This time of year for many parents can be a challenge. This rings particularly true if you have more than one child, with no assistance from extended family members. Throw a newborn into the picture and well, let’s just say any help is welcomed help.
During our day at the daycare, we recognize foods that the majority of kids like and may not take as much of a liking to. This year, we wanted to help our parents and any parent for that matter with a list of a few simple dinner ideas to try and lighten the stress levels.
When we came up with this list, the three main considerations we looked for were ease of preparation combined with time to cook, how healthy the meal is and whether or not the child may love it or leave it.
Please find below a few of our favorite pics:
Lucy’s Mac and Corn – A simple 5 ingredients recipe that is fast and easy to prepare and provides left overs if you desire. http://ow.ly/Gi1tv
Lunch Box Hot Dogs – Another very quick one that can be easily prepared during the dinnertime rush. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Lunch-Box-Hot-Hot-Dogs/Detail.aspx?evt19=1
Baked Ziti – Fast, easy, and a hit with the kids that love pasta. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baked-Ziti-I/Detail.aspx?evt19=1
Oven Roasted Teriyaki Chicken – Takes a little longer for prep (about 30 minutes), but a hit with the kids because of the teriyaki. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Oven-Roasted-Teriyaki-Chicken/Detail.aspx?evt19=1
As a daycare provider in Coquitlam and Langley, we also keep our eyes out for ideas to share with parents to make their jobs easier, especially at this time of year. We hope you enjoy the above recipes and have a wonderful holiday season.
